FREE art workshops for children with author and illustrator Emma Shoard at the reserve

‘Life on the Thames’ is a children’s book which takes young readers on a journey from the source to the sea, exploring habitats and celebrating species along the way. Join us on Sunday 8 June to find out more about the amazing river wildlife around Goring. Learn how to create beautiful animal illustrations using colour and collage.

Materials are provided with thanks to Goring Arts Society, who are generously supporting this event.

Suitable for ages 5+ (children must be accompanied by an adult).

Emma is a London-based illustrator and author living on board a 19th century Dutch Barge on the Thames. The river that inspired ‘Life on the Thames’ has been her home for most of the past ten years. She has sketched goslings paddling past her boat, written passages from camping spots beside the water and worked from a home studio rocked by passing boats and the Thames tide.

She’s looking forward to sharing drawing techniques and making some art together at Withymead. Join us anytime between 11am and 3pm on Sunday 8 June for a chance to meet Emma, learn all about life on the Thames, enjoy some hands-on creativity and of course enjoy a stroll around the reserve.

P.S. To protect wildlife and habitats, dogs (other than assistance dogs) are not allowed on the reserve. They are welcome at the study centre if kept under control and on a lead.
